Lovely Stroll Around St Alban Parks

Not far from St Alban’s Cathedral, there are lush green parks and countryside area. A perfect spot for a family picnic I would think. When exploring this place, be sure to take in the idyllic scenery for how beautiful everything is.

The Ye Old Fighting Cock

Perfectly situated around St Albans Cathedral and the parks, we found a perfect place to try out one of St Albans famous ale houses! The Ye Old Fighting Cock is officially named by the Guinness book of Records to be the oldest pub in Britain. The building dates back to the eleven century! If you like to enjoy nice real and authentic vintage pint ale, then this is the right place for you.

There is a framed print on the highlighting extended floor plans that were added later on, included the dates too. I found the interior to have much more space than appeared so from the outside. A "Tardis pub" if you like, lol! This came with a very attractive main area and fairly substantially sized ancillary room. Finally, there is a beer garden providing some outside seating and overlooking a beautiful park next to it.

The ceilings are low with a few fireplaces scattered throughout. It’s not unlike being in an episode of "Game of Thrones". Luckily for us, the fire was already burning creating a very cosy and inviting atmosphere.

It is a great place to sit and relax after an afternoon of exploring St Albans town and Cathedral.

It is said that there are more pubs in St Albans per square mile than anywhere else in the country. It is also where the campaign of real ale first began. They love the stuff so much they even brew their own beer!

Apart from the Excellent choice of ales, Ye Old Fighting Cock also provide traditional English pub food that is freshly made to order and not the usual stuff bought in bulk and stored in a deep freezer. Everything served was delicious and of a very high standard.

I opted for the Beef Bourguignon and my husband chose the Steak Burger. Both arrived after a moderately short wait and arrived piping hot and scrumptious looking. That super-rich beef casserole was mouth-wateringly good and bursting full of that distinct red wine flavour!

This old English pub is just about as good as it gets and comes highly recommended. It is nice to just stop off here to enjoy for a few pints of "real" ale and socialise with friends. Love this place!

I believe St Albans stands out as a de facto English scenic city. If you like the look of my posts of St Albans and the broad spectrum of diversity it has to offer, such as its Roman historical roots right up to the latest high street fashions, why not give it a visit if you can?

漫步圣奥尔本斯公园

在离大教堂圣奥尔本不远的地方，有大片郁郁葱葱的大草坪和人工湖。在阳光灿烂的周末一家人来这里野餐，最适合不过了，呵呵。

叶奥尔德斗鸡屋

座落在圣奥尔本斯公园附近，有一个当地最有名的啤酒屋，名为“叶奥尔德斗鸡屋”。据说它是英国最古老的酒吧，持有官方“吉尼斯纪录”的头衔哦！酒吧建筑本身也是英国最古老的房屋，历史可以追溯到十一世纪！如果你想品尝真正地道的艾尔啤酒，这里可是你的最佳选择。

在酒吧入门的地方，墙上有平面图详尽地介绍叶奥尔德斗鸡屋是由几部分组成及其先后建成的时间。酒吧里面的空间比我想象的要大多了。除了大厅，它还有一，两个小房间可用作私人派对。另外，这里有非常大的一个户外啤酒花园，四周有不同的座椅，俯瞰着旁边一个美丽的大草坪！可以想象，天气好的时候，这里一定座无虚席，非常热闹！

如同许多古老建筑，叶奥尔德斗鸡屋的天花板很低，有许多原木色的座椅还有最原始的壁炉，这与“权力的游戏”中的拍摄现场并无两样，呵呵。我们去到的时候，壁炉正在燃烧着，营造了一个非常温馨舒适的气氛。
参观完圣奥尔本斯镇和大教堂以后，来这里放松一下是必须的，呵呵。

如果按照每平方英里的酒吧数量来算，圣奥尔本斯在英国堪当首位，比全国其他任何一个地方拥有的酒吧都多。所以不难想象，当地人对艾尔啤酒的热情也非同一般，他们甚至酿造自己的啤酒！

在这里除了享受一流的啤酒，酒吧还提供传统的英式食物，都是新鲜制作的。不过等的时间也会稍微长一点。没关系，那我们就多喝两杯啤酒咯，呵呵。

我点了红酒炖牛肉，而我先生选择了牛肉汉堡。当热气腾腾的美食端上来时，卖相蛮不错的。那浓郁的红酒香气和入口即化的炖牛肉，我吃起来真是感觉好享受哦！

在这个风韵十足的古老酒吧，和朋友们来几杯纯正的艾尔啤酒，很棒吧！我真的好喜欢这个地方！

圣奥尔本斯是一个神奇的地方，不但有古老的历史，优美的大自然风景，还有都市的繁华！大家有机会来这里的话，我保证你一定不会后悔的，呵呵！
