As I shared in my last post Trip in Canada Banff National Park thanks for @someone , my family went to travel in the Canadian Rockies in August 2017. This post I am going to share another amazing experience during our travel -- Athabasca Glacier.

0

The Athabasca Glacier is only a small edge of the Columbia Icefield, about 2% of the total feels like a toe of the total ice field. The Columbia Ice field formed during the Great Glaciation (238,000 to 126,000 BC), it is about 325 square kilometres in area, 100 metres to 365 metres in depth. If there is one day that the fresh water is not enough, this would be a huge storage then.

Morning, going to the destination, driving is always very pleasant experience inside the mountains.

Arrived, and the glacier is in the red circle in the photo.

11

In order to really land on the glacier, you need to take the special vehicle, which is the monster behind me. One of the glacier bus cost 1.2 million.

12

Landing on the glacier, even the view is not supper special, but still feels very excited just thinking that I am standing on a 100 meter 100,000 years old glacier.

The trip on the glacier is ended, we come back to the icefield center, feels like spring from winter sitting here. What just happened feels like a little fantasy.

I am going to end the post with a panoramic image from the icefield center. One last point, since the glacier is melting every year, hopefully every one has a chance to come and visit before it disappears.

I went to Canada about 8 times in the 1990s as a touring musician. I love the country and Banff National Park is just about as good as it gets. Great photos, thanks for posting

What an amazing experience to share with your parents and your child.
A great walk thru of your trip your pictures are amazing, Thank you for sharing your trip.
Some people where in shorts in your pictures, how cold was it on the glazier?

The temperaure is like something around 0 degree C, but the wind is pretty chilly. The reason some people wear shorts are we only on the glacier around half an hour, and it was pretty warm in the bus. After we went back to the bus station, the temperature is like around 20 degree C. Thank you very much for your support.

I like that photos :)

A good example of teamwork. If each member of the castle becomes an expert on a small handful of altcoins, one can imagine that keeping track of promising investments becomes easier.

Thank you very much for your support.

That must be the most amazing place i think. Can you tell me how much did you spend for the cost there?

The cost is reasonable, the ticket to the glacier is $90 CAD per person. The trip will depend on where you are, and the hotel is around 200 CAD.

That is so expensive for me if I convert CAD to our currency "IDR". It just a big dream for me.. LOL

Keep working on steemit, I am sure travel to canada will not be dream anymore. I like your post under water at Sabang Island, lol. You can check the minnowsupportproject, that will help a lot during the beginning.

Lol. Thank you buddy

I've been on that trip numerous times over the years. Very glad you and your family enjoyed the trip. I love the pictures. The bridge or tunnels are to allow the wildlife to cross the highway safely. The animals go over top while we go under it.

Excellent, you are the only one notice that question. I think the design the very very nice, other wise the wild animals's activty area will be restrict too much by the highways.

It is a dream!
Very beautiful photos

I wanna be there someday like you were. Happy holiday with your family. All the best.
Regard from Indonesia.

Thank you and wish you get the chance to come and visit soon.

we should be in the business of protecting these places. limiting the amount of people impacting the area.

They are doing protecting right now, the opening is only 3-4 months each year. And the glacier is melting not only due to the human activity but also the weather change. So it is not too bad to have people visit when it still exist.

Looks amazing! How did the glacial water taste?! Like the fountain of youth?

It is like the fountain of youth, now I feel like at least 20 years younger, lol. It really taste like normal ice water, nothing special, not sweet nor salty, lol.

WOW. What a nice trip. Your small one is really sweet! :-)

Thank you, he is sweet, lol.

A good example of teamwork. If each member of the castle becomes an expert on a small handful of altcoins, one can imagine that keeping track of promising investments becomes easier.

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

@someone @shenchensucc what did the water taste like? Was it safe to drink it?

It is safe to drink, taste like normal cold water, lol.
