Interesting that CNN and/or NPR Radio News Now repeatedly reporter yesterday’s (presumed) assassination attempt rife was an AK-47, and now CNN says it’s an SKS (without mention of any prior error).
It’s a small but significant fact. First, when it was reported as an AK-47, as far as I recall there was no doubt, no statement that it was “like”.
And it’s meaningful as news. An SKS uses the same ammunition, but has a smaller magazine, is semi-automatic, has a longer barrel and is effective at 440 yards instead of 380. It does sound to me like the type of weapon you’d want if you are laying in wait and want accuracy at a long range on a single shot.
