Flood Watch Heavy Rain Threat Through Saturday

The trough in the Central Gulf States extending south into the northwest Caribbean will be a problem until further notice. Clouds and moisture extend from our latitude all the way south to Florida and beyond. This is going to create issues with rain and the potential for flooding. Flood Watches are posted for New Jersey and Pennsylvania from Route 78 south into Maryland & Northern Virginia.

We are seeing the latest round of rain this morning playing through and this area will be shifting southward into this afternoon. This should lead to some improvement in weather conditions across Northern New Jersey NYC & Southern New England. Southern New Jersey & Southern Pennsylvania southward however is likely to see rain continue on and off through tonight. Where drying occurs this afternoon skies should brighten up with a break or two of sun with highs reaching into the 70s...where it is cloudy and rainy it stays in the 60s.

Rain is lining up to the south for Friday and will be gradually moving northward. All signs point to a soaking rain here Friday night through much of Saturday. An onshore flow develops Friday which means back in the soup and temperatures in the 50s to near 60. Weather conditions will improve on Sunday with some sunshine developing and the chance for a late thunderstorm. Highs in the 70s to near 80.

As we head into next week this upper pattern will still be in play. As time goes by it increases the chance for a tropical system developing later next week in the Northwest Caribbean and heading into the Gulf of Mexico. It would be very early and outside the tropical storm season but it is becoming a stronger possibility now that all weather models seem to be showing this happening and inside the 7 day time frame. We will touch more on this later today.
