Yesterday I made the decision to work towards earning my fitness trainer and nutrition coach certification. I attended college for Exercise Science and Sports Management, and from 2012-2014 was training hundreds of clients, assisting them with their health and wellness.
It has been about 3 years since my first certification expired with the ACSM. What that means now is that I am going to go through the required study material in the form of books and online video training, then take the quizzes and tests. I will also be getting CPR certified like I did before.
I chose to go with a certification through the International Sports Sciences Association this time because I can get nutrition certified and go more in-depth with my clients. Offering a fully-rounded plan that includes exercise and nutrition is what will allow clients to achieve their goals more efficiently.
Truthfully, I never left the fitness industry. Working out and staying in shape has been a large part of my life since I was 18 years old. I even used to own a Crossbow (Bowflex off brand) in my bedroom and use it 4-5 times per week.
My personal goal within the next 4 months is to lose 15 pounds of the bad kind of fat while retaining and defining existing muscle fibers. Earlier this week I began cutting empty carbs and sugars of which I consumed a fair share over the holiday season.
I perform my best workouts in the mornings when I have the most energy, and then make a series of smart decisions with my diet. I eat lighter meals / snacks throughout the day keep my metabolism going while also consuming enough proteins and healthy fats to promote healing of broken down muscle tissue.
Being fit isn't a short-term gig, it's a lifestyle. Kind of like investing in crypto or in stocks. It's all about the long-term game and the visionary mindset. Starting a diet or an exercise routine and then quitting after 1 month due to lack of results is a self-defeating mentality. It has to become who you are so that you can sustain your results throughout your entire life.
Excited to be on this journey of never-ending growth and development of both my mind and my body alike. Tell me about your recent fitness journey. If you don't have one, what would it look like if you did have one. Tell the truth! haha
Cheers ;)
-Ken

I'm proud of you Ken and this is some great news. Staying fit is such an important thing in order to stay in good heath. Right now, I run a lot. Since Christmas though, I've been slacking a bit lol. One thing I'm going to add to this is weight lifting. I used to do it religiously a few years back. Slowly though, it all went to running lol. Take care and I hope you've been having a great day! :)

Keeping in good shape allows me to be at my best throughout each day. I can experience life at a much higher level when my body and mind have been properly exercised. What is your goal, Clark? Are you looking to gain size, get lean, or a combo of both?

My goal is to get more lean while gaining some more mass, so a combo of both. I weight about 170 now and I’d like to bump that up to 185 or 190. What about you Ken?

I recently lost a lot of weight with Herbalife but I also lost a good amount of muscle. I think I lost the muscle from not eating enough protein. But once I reach my target weight of 79 kg's or less, I will start adding protein to my shakes and should get my muscle back.
I take it easy with working out and focus more on a healthy diet with Herbalife than pushing myself with fitness. But I still go to the gym 3 to 4 times a week and I am starting to sprint on the treadmill for a few minutes each time. @kenmelendez
Disclaimer: I was told that the results I got with Herbalife are not typical and that results vary.

Nice work, Chris 💪🏻 Like anything we want in life, consistency is key. Anyone can reach a goal, but it takes a disciplined practitioner to maintain that result.

Yeah @kenmelendez that is why I am not setting super high goals in the area of physical fitness. I don't naturally excel in manual work or physical exercise so I am keeping my goals modest so that I can maintain the lifestyle I am achieving for life.
The area of life that I want to excel in is writing!
P.S. Thanks for writing this and following up with my comment!

I don't have a special fitness plan because I walk a lot, even to my work place, so am fit because of it and I also try to eat healthy too.

That’s excellent @yaanivapeji. I am glad you are staying fit. Often times people who work out and eat healthy are much more productive during the work day 💪🏻
