Explosion, fire aboard oil platform day after Hurricane Laura forces worker evacuation

At the time of the fire, company officials estimated there were 362 barrels – just over 15,000 gallons – of oil and water aboard the platform, the State Police report said.

Interesting article about an explosion on an oil platform and what the damages might have been. Good thing this wan't a major disaster, there was a lot of fuel on the rig and it's in an environmentally sensitive area. I've fished that area and know that there's a lot of wildlife that would have been harmed if this had gotten out of control. We dodged a bullet on this one....
