Work completed on gas collection system at Jefferson Parish landfill

Landfills produce gas as the buried trash decomposes, and that gas is collected, processed and sold. But low collection rates from the parish landfill have been seen as evidence of noxious gasses leaking into the air instead.

Interesting article about how they collect gas from landfills and how they seem to need regular repairs. I had no idea that the collection system cost so much on these landfills, but I guess everything cost a lot these days. Anyway it's good to see that the gas is not wasted. I just hope that people can learn to not produce so much trash in the future.....
