So once you register your domain you will have to renew it sooner or later at the time of expiry. If you don't want that domain after 1 year its an another story but many will probably want it.

So at the time of renew you will have to pay the regular price, no coupons no discounts. The word cheap is just for the 1st year and if you buy a domain for many years you will get different discount rates.

When a user pays a regular price, his/her domain will receive more supports when you face problem. Those domain Name servers are pointed instantly, some may have privacy, their domain will have extra 30 days time for renew after expiry date and so on.

Providers like GoDaddy and BlueHost uses regular prices after 1st year and they have nice support and extra 30 days after expiry date.
