Good afternoon steemian friend

This time I want to discuss a little about the tradition of coffee in Aceh.

Who does not know about Aceh.
Aceh is a province on the edge of Sumatra. The country is rich with abundant natural produce, beautiful sea of coral reefs and all the amazing things that make the eyes stunned, tropical forests, rice fields, beautiful hills and mountains towering above the clouds.

Aceh's lush natural conditions, combined with favorable weather, have made Aceh's coffee plants thrive into a high-quality, profitable commodity. Indonesia is the world's fourth largest exporter of coffee beans, and Aceh is one of the largest coffee producers capable of producing about 40% of the premium Arabica beans of total coffee harvest in Indonesia.

A brief history of coffee in Aceh.

Aceh coffee originated from the Netherlands brought by a Dutch businessman in the XVII century through Batavia (Jakarta) and then entered Aceh.

The first coffee introduced was Arabica type coffee which then developed rapidly into a variety of coffee. As it is today.

In the world, coffee can be divided into 2 groups by type, namely Arabica coffee and Robusta coffee. In Aceh these two types of coffee are cultivated by the local community. Arabica coffee is commonly cultivated in the highlands of Gayo Land, including Takengon, Southeast Aceh, and Gayo Lues. While in Pidie (mainly Tangse and Geumpang) and Aceh Barat, people prefer to develop Robusta coffee.

Aceh is known by another name 1001 coffee shops. Especially in Banda Aceh.

A little discussion about the Acehnese's habit of coffee. if you travel to aceh do not be surprised when you see coffee shop which always crowded by the visitors, be it parents or adult.
visiting coffee shops is an integral part of everyday activities. They are there not only to drink coffee, but to keep in touch with each other, business, exchange ideas and more.

What makes Aceh coffee more interesting is its distinctive way of presentation that is different from the way coffee is served anywhere in the world. Coffee brewed with water kept steady. The steaming coffee is filtered repeatedly with a strainer made of cloth, then poured from one kettle to another. The result is a very solid coffee, fragrant, and clean without containing coffee powder.

Although times have changed, the culture of drinking coffee amongst the people of Aceh is maintained. This tradition continues to decline down to their young generation today. What makes it different, now the convenience and facilities offered by the manager to determine whether or not a coffee shop in Banda Aceh.

Now, a comfortable layout and free internet hotspot (wifi) facilities generally attract more young people to feel at home in the coffee shop. However, for those who are genuinely connoisseurs of true coffee, simple stalls but one of the best coffee blends in Aceh, such as Kedai Solong in Ulee Kareng, remains the number one destination when traveling to Banda Aceh.

Never acknowledge that you have ever been to Aceh if you have not yet enjoyed the Acehnese coffee ..

how do you think about coffee in aceh ??
