When made right, cold brew is a smooth, high-caffeine drink. Don’t just pour hot coffee over ice, that’ll just give you a diluted bitter version. Instead, start with ¾ cup of whole coffee beans and a French press. They don’t have to be expensive.

The key is the grind. It should be very coarse. A superfine grind could make the brew bitter and too strong. Drop the grounds into the bottom of the press. Next, add 4 cups of water. Stir to make sure all the grounds are wet. Cover and just touch the plunger to the water.
Put it in the fridge for at least 12 hours. The ideal time is a full 24 hours. Push the plunger to strain the cold brew.
Pour into a glass and add milk or cream to your liking.
Bonus tip: pour leftover brew into ice cube trays. Add the coffee cubes to your drink.
