Whipped Cream Coffee and Philosophy

in coffee •  7 years ago

The day began with coffee… at least this time. This whipped cream mocha version is my current favorite. Forget about that oil and butter coffee stuff that is claimed to stop bullets. This has the butter still in the cream with all the other creamy goodness… yes, pun intended. Cream has half the calories per Tablespoon compared to butter but more flavor. Quite tasty. Try it.

The mug is filled half way, about 6 ounces, using a double shot portion of ground espresso beans. Try whatever coffee you like and increase the amount if desired.

Add your preferred ingredients to a blender. Two tablespoons or so of heavy cream, cinnamon, cocoa (one teaspoonish amount), nutmeg, etc. Get creative. Add whatever makes the coffee more satisfying to your soul. I usually sweeten with honey for epic flavor or stevia for sugar free and lower calories. I’m trying a ketogenic diet thing for a month so I, usually, use stevia for now.

I add a few shakes of sea salt to balance the flavors. Not too much. It should not taste salty. When sweetened with honey it takes on a carmelish toffee flavor. It’s like hot liquid mocha toffee.

Pour in the Coffee:

And now for the whipping part of the concoction. Blend for 30 to 60 seconds. Use a mixing bowl and an electric hand mixer if needed or a whisk if that’s all you have which will take longer to whip.

Taste it before pouring it and add more ingredients to tweak the flavor if you like. Pour into a mug and enjoy! The froth is usually 1/2 inch thick.

Normally, I eat my first meal around noon but when I have a morning coffee like this I often go another two hours or more before feeling at all hungry because of the satiation of the fat in the cream. I have not tried adding more cream yet but could probably make it until dinner time if the cream was doubled or some cacao butter was added to the blend which adds a nice velvety texture as I recall.

Take some down time alone or with a friend to enjoy the little things in life like a good cup of coffee. I seem to often find meaning in those moments if I relax and pay attention. That was the philosophy part of the story. Perhaps I shall call this creation… “Whipped Cream Philosocoffee”. Okay, maybe not, too cheesy... hmm... cream cheese blended into coffee, if it works I'll put it in a future post.

Try the whipped cream coffee for yourself. Take a break from the normal chaos of modern life to enjoy it and share your thoughts.

That looks really good. I enjoy my fatty coffees while on keto but usually I drink them cold. I don't have an expresso machine either so I will have to play around with this.

Sounds tasty! I'm going to try it tomorrow. Thanks!
