This was his last chance. He couldn't just let it slip through his sweaty fingers.
Duvo ran through the alley with quick precision unperturbed by the trojan war going on in his belly
"I've really got to do something about this late night eatings, it's killing me Duvo mused".
A soft growl made him frown he quickened his pace now
"Tiny little bastards the whole lot of them can't even let a man walk in peace. You can shut up now I'm almost there"
He said, talking to himself and startling a middle aged woman taking an evening walk with her little son who keeps grinning widely at him.
He reached his house, walked up to the door and slid a key in the key hole, a soft click followed by a push brought to his nostrils the familiar smell of worn clothes, half eaten pizza and flowers which spelt home.
He immediately went for the phone and punched in some digits. After some seconds a soft click then a solemn "hello" graced the atmosphere.
"Hi... It's um Duvo... We met in the museum"
"I'm so sorry but I can't remember said the voice at the other end of the line". A minute of silence then
" um.. I was the guy in a green suit and a soft attitude.... You gave me your number remember.... A soft pause
"Oh Duvo I'm so sorry please forgive me it's just that I met so many people I forgot the incredibly funny English man. So how are you"?
"I am very good thank you. Um Sarah... I wanted to ask you something".
" okay... Shoot ".
" okay ".
" Sarah.. Are you free tomorrow"?
Duvo said why holding his breath, her sudden reply made him breath once more.
"No Duvo I won't be free throughout this week... But I am free today slash tomorrow morning so you can come pick me up by 11pm.. That's if you're chanced".
" Oh sure I'll be free I mean chanced "
A soft giggle from the other end made him smile.
"Yes... Yes.. Yes I've got her yes finally and it wasn't even that hard... Duvo shouted. "Wait a minute what the..... 11pm.. Are you kidding me aww man I can't wait that long, I'm as tired as fuck right now.
Some hours later
" I can do it I know I can".
Duvo walked up to the cupboard and pulled out the freshly packed coffee.
"Yeah I've been saving you for a rainy day, and now it's definitely pouring. Now you're going to keep me awake through the night until it's 11pm ".
" I can't believe I'm talking to coffee, oh well "
He washed his face and the vigil of a life time began with freshly brewed coffee in hand Duvo waited sleepily.
His alarm woke him he had slept off he jumped up stretch and checked the time 11:01
"Thank God I didn't sleep too much, I'm not really a fan of coffee, but it works wonders the last time I checked the time was 10:52. Normally my alarm clock never wakes me up but... Oh stop talking".
He started dressing up, still feeling grateful to his coffee friend he thought of how long the night will be. Maybe this wasn't a good idea after all

For my self, caffeine has an opposite effect already. Chugging a minimum of 3 cups a day, it is become my regular beverage.
