Here we got a 2000 25-cent Bahamian Sloop minted by England - British Royal Mint (Llantrisant). This coin is a fairly common coin for the Bahamas and it is still used in circulation today, what's interesting is that it was minted by the British. Following a trend like American Quarters, these coins are issued every year with their respective year date. There isn't anything particularly special about this coin other than its unknown mintage. I've searched the interwebs from NGC to the Online Cub for the exact mintage or maybe some estimates and I've found nothing really relevant. There are sources that range between 1.3 Million to 3.2 Million in circulation at varying qualities. It's honestly a very peculiar piece to say the least. If anyone has accurate mintage information, I'd love to check it out!
This coin, at this year, can be worth anywhere between it's face value $0.25 USD as it is pegged to the USD, or it can be sold to collectors for up to $1.70 USD.
My sister was the one who gave me this coin along with other pocket change, so I immediately noticed that this was certainly not an United States minted coin. My sister gets tips from work and every now and again we'll get coins from the Caribbean and other places throughout the Americas.
