There was a documentary on youtube about Wim Hof the ice man. He used cold exposure as a way of connecting to our core and be in the present moment. I remember a few years ago I was doing the cold shower challenge after I saw the documentary. This time I want to do a real cold exposure by walking in the snow. Next day, I found out, I became really sick afterward.
We want to always try new things, learn new things but at the same time, we should calculate the risk properly. In this case, after my walk in the snow, I was still cold for a long time. If I could plan to go to the hot tub right away or take a hot bath right away, I probably won't become so sick. Perhaps, I should do Wim's breathing exercises before and after the exposure.

I haven't tried the cold exposure yet (only semi-cold showers in Thailand)
I do, however, practice the breathing exercises and I love the benefits from them. I think you might want to try them before your cold exposure, making your body and mind more resilliant and ready for the cold.
