I recently came across CampusCoin (CMPCO) through a friend asking if I had heard of it. I had not, so I decided to look into it today. It's a struggle trying to keep up with news on coins I'm currently invested in as well as learning about new ones and CampusCoin has caught my attention.
Their goal is to provide a currency to be used at any University and introduce students to the world of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology and how it can improve the financial market.
This project is very early as their roadmap shows the earliest project releasing around Q3 of 2018 which is the actual app that'll be used to purchase and use the coin in person. Right now they have a standard wallet, 50 Campus Ambassadors to help spread the word of the currency, and are currently listed on three exchanges. The latest one being on Cryptopia.
Although they don't include a whitepaper (or at least I haven't found it on their page yet) I understand what they're doing. Essentially, it will be a currency that all students can use on campus and neighboring businesses who accept the coin. At my school, we have what's called "Declining Balance" and "Meal Swipes" with plans that include different price levels depending on how many credits you currently have. The meal swipes are used to get into the two cafeterias and you have either unlimited swipes all semester, or a finite amount with a certain amount of declining balance. The declining balance is used for other places like fast food or the small grocery stores. When you run out of either, you can't refill until next semester when your plan resets. The plan you choose is built to last all semester to accommodate students who can't afford to go out grocery shopping weekly.
With CampusCoin, parents or students are able to fund their wallet with the currency whenever and however much they want. This solves the issue of running out of swipes or declining balance and allows for students to better budget their money. Since it's on the blockchain, transactions are almost instant and can be monitored much easier. Students will also be exposed to the ever changing technology without needing to learn anything about it beforehand.
Towards the end of 2018, a "sub-ledger" will be released that Universities can use to better organize a student's transactions.
If this has interested you and you want to get your University involved, sign up to be a Campus Ambassador. You'll receive rewards based on how many people you recruit to the Discord. The more people you recruit, the more rewards you earn based on the tier level. I just applied to become an Ambassador today!
I tried to give as much information as possible. If you have any questions, comment below and I'll answer them as best as I can!

I'll check the links. Seems like a decent idea. Just wondering if something else will already be established by the end of '18. That's a long time in crypto time where things happen fast.

Great job @axelarator - You made a very good decision becoming an ambassador. Let's keep spreading the word. What an amazing vision and team. This is so undervalued. I have not seen a coin in crypto with a team like this.
