Should be a wild football weekend next week.

If Georgia, Michigan, FSU and Washington win next week then everything is set on the playoffs. No one loss team deserves to jump a no loss team, even an injured FSU team. I think that Michigan is safe. The Big 10 this year is really a big 2 as they are the only complete teams in the Big 10. We really will not know how good Michigan is until the playoffs.

Where does that leave Texas? Assuming Texas wins next week, and we should not automatically assume that., Okla St will be motivated and have the Big 12 refs to help them, then Texas is out if those four teams win but could be in depending on who loses. If Georgia loses then a one-loss Alabama team does not get to jump a one-loss Texas team. Remember 34-24. It is possible that if Alabama wins that the SEC is shut out of the playoffs. Crazy huh.

If Washington loses then Oregon becomes the one-loss Pac-12 champs looking for a playoff spot. Right now they are ahead of Texas in the polls but Texas does have a better strength of schedule. Probably the committee puts them in over Texas but I think it will be close.

FSU with their hurt quarterback is the most likely to lose. If they lose they are out of the playoffs. If Washington wins and FSU loses then Oregon has two losses and is out. Then it comes down to Texas and Ohio State. I think Texas has an edge because of better strength of schedule and the fact that two Big 10 teams were put in last year and neither of them advanced to the finals. So it would not be a complete surprise if Ohio St was selected but there is a strong case for Texas.

The bottom line is that the undefeated teams control their destiny and are in the best position to go to playoffs. With the possible exception of Oregon, I think Texas is best situated after these teams.
