Wednesday Yellow. Iris. Art by photo. If you want – your photo will be next

in colorchallenge •  7 years ago  (edited)

Recently I found a wonderful photo by @joanstewart . Yellow iris. And today I decided to paint it.

I paint with alcohol markers from Finecolour and use watercolor pencils for small parts. I draw from light to dark, starting the pattern with the silhouette of the flower.

I leave a glare zone and start to type the color on the petal, I try to repeat the movement of the shadows in the photo. Gradually, step by step, I add the flower petals. I pay attention to the details and the ratio of light and shadow.

The basic principle of working with markers is mixing several shades on wet paper. I take a light marker as a base and in the wet spot of color I add shades darker. I'm working on parts of the picture, because the paper dries very quickly.

In the video in front of me is a palette of markers, which I made specifically to know which of the markers I should use. I have such a palette for all the basic colors. And it's very convenient!

I can’t believe how real it’s looking @amalinavia ur gorgeous 👍🏼

Your painted iris looks like a real one growing in the garden! Hard to believe you used markers on wet papers-- looks like watercolors -- but with more control @amalinavia Beautiful!🎨💛🎨

Thank you! I like the watercolor technique in markers. So the border between the colors is erased.

It's very effective-- I like your style!

I really love your painting! It's interesting to see the video. I love how the orange made it look so much deeper and bring it so much more to life.

Thank you! =)

This is such a beautiful piece of art. The yellow is so striking!
