Green Grasshopper
Grasshoppers are a very harmful ravenous pest, they eat from teak leaves, bananas, rice, corn to sugarcane. 50 adult grasshoppers can eat the equivalent of an adult cow.
Grasshoppers are animals that undergo imperfect metamorphosis. Imperfect metamorphosis is a metamorphosis that has only 3 stages, namely egg, nymph, and imago (adult). Where the physical appearance between nymph and imago is not much different. Other examples of insects with imperfect metamorphoses are aphids, crickets and cockroaches.
Grasshoppers can live almost anywhere in the world except the north and south poles.
Grasshoppers will usually sound similar to crickets to attract mates.
The grasshopper body consists of 3 main parts, namely head, chest (thorax) and abdomen (abdomen). Grasshopper also has 6 six foot jointed, 2 pairs of wings, and 2 antennas. Long back legs are used to jump while short forelimbs are used for walking. Despite having no ears, locusts can hear. The hearing instrument of the locust is called the tympanum and is located on the abdomen near the wing. Tympanum is shaped like a large round disk consisting of several processors and nerves used to monitor the vibrations in the air, functionally similar to a human eardrum. Grasshopper breathes with trachea.
