Color Challenge: Friday Sky Blue -- Borage

in colorchallenge •  7 years ago

I am not going to write anything very exciting this time. I'm tired today.

This one is for my editor friend @carolkean who was discussing borage on her facebook earlier this year. So I thought of her when I took it on the 23rd intending to post it today.

I was reading up about borage after I took the shot. We may have to increase amounts of it if we try to have cauliflower again in the future. I'd put pots of thyme every other plant and we had marigolds a little distance away but still got plenty of cabbage worm (see yesterday's post). But apparently borage is good against both them and tomato horn worms. Not that we have any luck with tomatoes anyway. Had a ton of plants that were doing great and lost them all to blight in sudden weather shift to excessively wet.

ISO 400 (Still haven't figured out changing that. Have had some bad days)

My usual CANON DIGITAL REBEL XT

Went to the camera shop yesterday about having my camera cleaned. The guy I need to talk to wasn't there, but someone else quoted me a price 4 times what I'd been told initially. So, yeah, I'm not feeling very trusting of that shop right now, not to mention not having the budget. He wanted to sell me other cameras instead.

I hopefully have found somewhere else to have it done when I am hopefully away in October. So looks like my camera will be making the trip with me, along with my SD, if I can finally get flight booked with the SD approved. More on that later.

Must be a universal personality type. We have places like that here who don't mind applying the same sales techniques. Sounds like he only wanted to sell a new one or nothing at all.

But back to the photo, very nice shot. I don't know this plant, but I love its shades of blue and purple.

Thanks! It's one of those edible ones and it's supposed to be good at repelling pest insects. The bees and such love it. Considering the recent die offs with bees, that's a good thing.

My one friend in the US recommends a shop for cleaning she considers reliable. I contacted them and they quoted a price around my initial quote from the local place and said 3 days for a sensoring cleaning. So I will haul the camera this time, if I can ever get the tickets.

regarding camera cleaning. i did my own sensor cleaning. bec. here they charge high. almost the same price if i buy a sensor cleaning kit. and that's what i did. i did check if my sensor has dirt. to do it. as i recall. i set on M mode. then F22. then Manual on lens too. so it not need to focus. then enable flash. shot on a clean white paper. then you will see if there black spots. if there is then your dslr might need cleaning.

about the ISO settings.

  1. you need to be in M mode dials.
  2. i have nikon. and you got canon. your rebel xt is just like my d80. same year and level. i expect they might have similar setting. try to find the ISO setting on the DSLR. i did search on google it said "To change your ISO, press the ISO button. "

try it :)

I am pretty sure my issues with my camera are fungal. I put an unedited version in my own post about the entry in the papa pepper contest. I am a little nervous about cleaning that. The offer I got if I manage to make my trip is reasonable, it sounds like, and someone I know has experience that the store is reliable. Only 3 day turnaround, so they do it in house and don't ship it out. I have it with both my lenses, so it's the body, not a lens issue. I tried blowing the body out but that made no difference. Denmark is very humid and I'd had some years I didn't use the camera much. I suspect it got some damp.

Okay. Good luck, hope it get clean soon

Terrific shot...following you for more.

I recommend you learn to make less spammy comments and don't beg people to follow you. Anything as blinky as those images give people like me migraines. If you instead spend your time making intelligent comments on people who make posts similar to the type of posts you like, you will attract more followers than with spammy comments like this one. Be sure your comment makes it clear you actually READ the post. Reply to some aspect of it. Clarify what you especially liked. Explain your envy if you have it. Good luck learning the etiquette.

Delicious, thanks for sharing.
