It's very late, Sunday night, close to midnight. I hurry, try not to miss the purple color of today.
Yesterday I was at the premiere of a ballet show and a decoration element attracted my attention, a mask that laughed and cried ...
The show was great!
The director is Gigi Caciuleanu, a sacred monster of dance in Romania. He danced at Balshoi Theater, danced with Tina Bausch and was the director of the National Ballet of Chile.
For him and you, still a little purple...
This is my cotribution to #ColorChallenge initiaited by @kalemandra.
Very nice, Dan!! I adore the ballet! "The Comedy and Tragedy Masks" or just "the theater masks" are a common sight in the theater and I have always found them whimsical although they do have Greek Origins.
How fortunate to get to see the Premier. You have quite a bit of awesome culture where you live. How nice!
I went out hiking the Appalachian Trail yesterday. I only did 17 miles of it and at the end of it, I was sure that I would rather be watching ballet. :)
Glad you had a wonderful time. Does your wife also like the ballet?

WoW! I didn't know about A.T... is huge! Congratulations for participation, I think it's hard but it's good for health and very pleasing to the eye. I was sure you were gone somewhere ...
I'm glad you like ballet, I also like, more the modern dance. Gigi Caciuleanu is our best coregrapher, I had the pleasure and the luck to see him debut in 1972 in a show called "Nocturne 9.1 / 2", named so because it started at nine o'clock pm. And now I remember a dance on the Bouree song with Jethro Tull, you can listen to it here if you like.
Because you asked about my wife, she even worked for this premiere, she loves ballet and opera and is a great admirer of Caciuleanu. Now she had the chance to be close to him and to participate in all stages of building this show. The show was produced by the National Opera House Bucharest for the George Enescu Festival. My wife is a collaborator of the Bucharest opera and assistant of manager Beatrice Rancea. The George Enescu Festival is one of the most prestigious music festivals in the world and the most important in Romania. George Enescu is the greatest Romanian composer. This is the poster:

That is so awesome and exciting to be so close to the heart of things! There is something so emotional, the abstract beauty of the dance. I am happy you get to experience it through your wife, with her firsthand knowledge.
Most excellent, Dan!

Yes, a very strange path of destiny ... we had the privilege of knowing very many artists in different fields ... I was a friend of many, very close, one even almost lived with us a few years. This, Sorin Chifiriuc, was a rock and progressive musician, one of the most non-conformist of the time (1970-2000), a real bohemian. I participated in his latest project with a band called "The Wheel". I was with them at a festival in Brussels, called Orangerie (the hall was a former greenhouse). Thanks to them I met many important musicians from that time. Then my wife worked in an art gallery and so I met many painters, with one I have already talked about, Constantin Daradici, I was a friend. With the current manager of the National Opera has been a friend for many years, she's name is Beatrice Rancea. She was a great ballerina, the first soloist of the Roman opera, a knee injury stopped her from dancing. Then she became a highly acclaimed theater director. She's our best friend. With her I participated in many theater plays (as an observer), so I met many actors, stage designers and directors. At the Romanian opera I was close to Andrei Serban( but only I saw him at work, directed Don Giovanni of Mozart, my wife worked with), in my opinion one of the first three Romanian directors forever. Andrei Serban is Professor at Columbia University! The artists, from my experience, are very interesting people, some of great culture, weird and with many is wise to not know them very close. We stayed close with only a few ...

Hahaha! I laughed when you said wise to not know them very close. I understand! It is a huge privilege to get to know some of these people from different walks of the art world.
I actually have heard of Skifi, although not in years and years. It was rumored he stopped playing music? I lived in Europe at the end of his progressive program. Bohemian is a great way to describe him. What an adventure his life was!
Serban is a professor at Columbia now? The US does a lot to court talented people to their bigger universities. We also get a lot of foreign students. In the meantime, a lot of our kids want to go to foreign universities. The grass always looks greener on the other side, no?
Listening to your life makes my head spin. Such a wonderfully cultured world you were associated with. I love that. Art of any form is such a wonderful addition to life.
I love our discussions and chats, Dan. You are a very interesting person with many facets that make you up. I am so please i clicked on your picture one day and stated up a conversation with you. Best thing I have done since I got here. :)
