Many years ago, I learned calligraphy. I've had opportunities to use it for wedding invitations, store signs, name tags, and just for my own enjoyment.
A more contemporary calligraphy is called lettering. You've probably seen it all over the internet on memes or other and it's especially popular with the scrapbooking crowd. I'm not sure if people are learning the skill or using their computers and printers to get the look.
Handwriting, cursive or script isn't being taught in the schools anymore. It's a dying art. The age of technology is here so it's become outdated.
In Canada, our Thanksgiving is mid October. Keeping with that theme I decorate pumpkins each year. I hand letter them with a sharpie and use different words and cursive styles. Sometimes I'll add a bow or other flourish, as in my photo.
A meme with a quote from @johnjgeddes. I've made a lot of these. Creating these is very relaxing and a form of meditation, self-soothing and self care for me.

Oh thanks. I did it by hand, I swear.... pinky swear even. :) I can see the imperfections, funny how that happens. If you try it, writing on a pumpkin is hard because of the bumps and whatnot. So it's best to write your lettering on paper first, then use transfer paper and trace your letters on then color it in.

The idea of pumpkins bearing a welcome notice was brilliant. Orange is such a warm colour and ideally complements gold and yellow. I especially love the Tuesday Orange banner at the end. Beautiful

I always admire people, who are able to do calligraphy. My handwriting is funny and not pretty at all. Now I'm waiting that my girls grow up a little, so I can find interesting hobbies and I think one of them will definitely be calligraphy. I will try it one day. So thumbs up for a great job. And to do it on a pumpkin... Really good.

Do try it...it's very satisfying (sometimes hehe) Kids love learning a fancy letter or two....and then being able to decorate it is frame worthy - yes I said the frame word again :)
