    Yes, RUF is also a registered manufacturer but their cooperation with Porsche is not even close to the one Alpina have with BMW like having their cars assembled at BMW, serviced at BMW dealerships and Alpina often times doing development for BMW engine and motorsport programs. In case you know the 335/535d engine, that is an Alpina design.

          Oh and as for RUF another difference is they rarely ever go racing which Alpina love to do:

              Close but no, it's a 6 series E63 based race car they developed themselves for the GT3 class. Called Alpina B6 GT3, quite successful but not sure if still active or they're working on a successor.
