Even though I'm usually not a big fan of Mondays, this one wasn't so bad at all. I don't know what was the reason, but now, when the day is almost finished I think it was quite a fun day.
In the afternoon, when I was picking dry clothes from ropes on our balcony I saw the flower which until today I didn't like much. But I managed to look closely and discovered, that our Pelargonium peltatum have petals which look like the finest velvet. And even though they are quite thin they look so amazing...
The P. peltatum, is an ornamental plant native to southern Africa. It is and annual flower, which usually blooms in the summer time and it comes in diferent kinds of colors. From red, pink, lilac, white and the combination of them. They are not a demanding flower and can be a great addition to your balcony or outer window shelf.
Seeing it from close distance, I think I changed my mind about them. What do you think, aren't they looking great?

That looks like a geranium! Maybe that's the botany name? If so, geraniums are pretty and velvety, but I'm not a fan of them either for some reason. They do look beautiful in a garden and can last years if stored during our cold winters, but I have never bonded with them.....close up they look like little velvet pillows :)

I checked, and I'm afraid it's not. I looked at this link and I found that on our balcony we have Pelargonium × hortorum (Zonal) and Pelargonium peltatum (Ivy-leaved) in many color combinations. At least we had. Now, when the summer is over we have just a small bunch of them. I don't like them, because they are constantly loosing petals, even if a small wind is blowing. But ok, up close they are quite lovely. :)

So true. The geraniums are annoying that way as well. They too have ivy looking leaves which is why I thot of them. They need to be constantly pinched back and deadheaded. Although I love the colors and fragrance of most flowers, I have a shrub garden. I packed annuals in barrels in the summer and then they die back. Next year I'm not doing that again - they are way too messy. I do have day lilies as my only perennial flower though.

I agree. Hate the messy plants. :) Hihi... So that's why I like cactuses, but still one of my favorites is Ficus bengamina. But I have a problem with it... :P I cannot see it being dry, and I water it regulary. Because of that it grows too fast, and it's soon to big for my shelf. So I take a branch of, put it in a glass filed with water and wait till it starts growing roots. Than I plant it in a pot, and the big one move outside or to my mother-in-laws house. :) A vicious circle indeed.

You're growin' babies. Baby bens... :)
I have an overgrown aloe plant - I swear it's like a huge octopus. Unfortunately the gel isn't good - not sure why, maybe it's too big and the good gel comes from the younger plants. I'm not a big fan of this plant but my husband brought it home and likes it. I have to repot it - I think I could give 10 away it's that big!!
Such big problems we have right?
