One of the things that is fascinating about flower colors is that to an insect they see something very different. For example insects at night usually see only ultraviolet (purple) so when a person sets up a white sheet at night and places an ultraviolet light behind it, insects are attracted to the 'white' sheet because they think it is a flower that provides nectar reward to them.
In fact most white flowered plants are pollinated at night because the potential pollinator does not see the white flower but see the flower are purple.
