Color Challenge Wednesday Yellow: Yellow house among green Trees.

Living in the north-east of Thailand can be very challenging especially in the hot season when the temperature could sore as high as 38-40 degree Celsius. On the other hand, in the rainy season the storm could pull down the electricity polls and cables which means we have to live without electricity and hot food for a few days. So, it is essential to have water storage, firewood or cooking gas, including candles and torches. If the house is on high ground, the other danger during the storm is the wind! I have seen houses with roofs blown away and big trees pulled up by the strong wind. So, a very secured and well constructed roof is a must for living in Esan (nick name for the region).

Otherwise, living among green trees, insects, occasional snakes, geckos and lizards is a very good way of living a healthy life. Nature has a lot of vitality to share with us, the earth and river are very generous and kind. We should be more grateful and refrain from exploiting nature without kind considerations. The karmic results would follow our karma. In some provinces where villagers have been cutting down trees in the mountains according to special orders have had a bad time this season; mud slides and flash flooding have swept their houses away. So, I hope that villagers will learn from their mistakes and refrain from get-rich-quick scheme of deforestation, usually with rich people's backing. When getting caught, it's the small people who got arrested in the act, not the investors.

This photo was taken in the dry season, some of the grass has already dried up. I learn to appreciate all creatures of nature and my fear of insects and snakes have disappeared. My hobby now is to learn to communicate with all the animals. I would like to be able to talk to them like the old red Indian witch-doctors could do in those old cow-boy films!

Hi! Thank you. Now I also have some field mouse problem! There is a small field mouse in my house at night! Running around under the roof! Last week a story cat came but he didn't stay very long!
