Res da Rua houses an amazing community of people in a beautiful old house in Porto, Portugal.
They have a community kitchen at the property which opens to the public each week, and also show films and hosts bands in the home cinema/function room based at the bottom of their communal garden.
Rooms to rent in Res da Rua are inexpensive and can be booked via Airbnb. The property exudes a faded Victorian splendour, with original plaster work and Bakelite light switches.
It is an experience like no other, as you will be welcomed as one of Res da Rua's extended family for the duration of your stay.

Portugal is a great place, it did, however, have a huge number of wildfires in mid-October which caused devastation to around half of the country, especially within the countryside. I hope to go back to Portugal again one day, but being caught within the wildfires at that time has made me think differently; a real life changing experience.
