We have plenty photo challenges on the steemit platform and I support them. They are a good source of different ideas and everyone can find one which is suitable for him or her. People get involved with posting, commenting and at the same time discovering new stuff and learn new things about different cultures and continents. At the same time, they get new followers and of course rewards for their posts.
These contests are also of a different duration. Some of them are a one-day topic, other can last for a week. Or even 365 one photo a day.
But I think that each one should choose the contest which is proper for his or her needs. If you're new on steemit or if you don't have a lot of followers or steem power then the longer contest is O.K. You can also post multiple times a day. But in my case that it's not a smart move.
The last one I saw it's a ten-day challenge. Reflection. Good topic and some really great and creative shots. I would like to participate in this contest, but for my status here on steemit I don't think that it would be right. People will get the impression that I just want an easy and quick buck for the next ten days.
With that said I also think that I have some nice click in my photo albums on that topic and I want to share with you. I put all of them in one post. Like we say in Slovenia: for the wolf to be full and the goat still in one piece.

Why would you not be able to participate in challenges that takes longer. I think it does not matter whether you are plankton or a whale, if you can show beautiful pictures it would be sad if you did not could share them. I think and hope that sharing beautiful images should be the starting point. And that nobody judges why someone participates in a challenge.

Excellent. Photos by the water are my most favorite landscapes. The reflection of the sky in the water, smooth color transitions, subtle shades - is a great picture. I really like the photochallenges @oldtimer... but, like you, I do relatively few of them.
One thing, though-- which you have also done here-- is to turn the challenge that could be posted as simply a photo and a sentence into something more. For example, I'm probably going to do "color challenge" today, but it will be multiple photos and the text will be a "teaching piece" on how to take something plain and ordinary and turn it into something more so it stands out from the crowd.

I wish I had more time to participate in all the art challenges on here. I'm usually too busy doing art for clients to make fresh art for the challenges lol Maybe I can get in on some of the photography ones :) At least I usually remember to do the colorchallenge, some of my most popular posts so far have been colorchallenge ones! I think Steemit is so great with offering fulfilling connections that we really connect and advance our education/evolution. This platform offers so much more than the money you can earn on posts. Love the reflections :) Always a great subject for a contest! I've actually recently started one of my own - @weddingcontest specifically to curate a wedding and portraits community here on Steemit.
As you said, the key to contests is finding the ones that fit your skillset. Weddings is a lot more niche on here at the minute but as the community grows I'm hoping we'll see growth within the weddings community :)
Anyway I always enjoy your posts on photography, I write lots of articles on here myself and just wanted to share the wedding contest idea with you :) Any support would be greatly appreciated but I totally realise it's not really your area of interest!

I love the array of contests STEEM has to offer...
But I think it’s s shame that some people would get upset about you posting a lot during an extended challenge... the only character trait it expresses in them is jealousy, and jealousy is an ugly thing. Try not to worry about what others think and post away as you wish!
