Thursday Green - The Windmills at Kinderdijk

in colorchallenge •  7 years ago

This photo is also my entry for the 7 World's Continents European Thursday Photo Challenge hosted by the wonderful @czechglobalhosts. To find out more about this daily contest, you can go here.

The windmills at Kinderdijk really are incredible to see up close in person. These 19 modern technological and architectural marvels were built around 1740 to pump water out of the fields and into a reservoir. The windmills truly are an incredible testament to man's ingenuity. It's one of the most famous landmarks in the Netherlands and became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. If you're ever in Amsterdam, I recommend taking the trip to Kinderdijk to see them!

Got to love Amsterdam and Holland for sights like this, it's just postcard worthy landscapes as far as the eye can see (if you're in the countryside!) Awesome shot bud!
