There's no doubt, Royal Caribbean's Oasis-class cruise ships are massive. With over 6,000 guests and over 2,000 crew members, the captain is responsible for over 8,000 souls every time they set sail.

Over my years of cruising I have witnessed the continuous evolution of the safety procedures and equipment on cruise ships. The Oasis ships have a completely new way of organizing and passengers to the lifeboats in the event of an emergency. Gone are the days of life jackets in your stateroom and random attempts to find your way to the proper holding zone. Evacuation drills on these ships run quickly and smoothly as we meet up at out designated assembly stations to check in, this where we would meet before being moved to the assigned lifeboat. Children are given coordinating wrist bands to allow staff to escort to meet their parents without worry.

With 18 lifeboats each with a 370 passenger capacity, and a well trained crew guiding us, it's good to know we were in good hands.

very good article. indeed I still feel not too easy to be always positive-minded. usually because there is an unpleasant experience or less good with it.
