Tibouchina Abstract

in colorchallenge •  7 years ago  (edited)

This is my entry for today's Colour Challenge organized by @kalemandra

The beautiful Tibochina flowers are native plants of south east Brazil. It was once a common practice to decorate the churches with these purple showy blooms. Tibouchina’s flourish in the sub-tropical climate of Queensland, Australia although they are found all over the country. There are many varieties including the dwarf ones which are called Tibouchina ‘Jules.’

Tibouchina plants are evergreen shrubs which can actually grow to about 15’ tall. Their dark green leaves make an attractive contrast to the colourful flowers. This image was achieved by adding a digital application to an original photo.
