I spotted these flowers last Saturday,when we had lunch just around the corner from where we live at the little soup- noodle stand.Across the road were these beautiful flowers.Of course I didn't have the camera with me for lunch,so I walked back,got the camera and made these pictures.
Commonly known as hibiscus,they grow native in warm temperate,subtropical and tropical areas around the world.A couple of 100 different species exist and they come in various colors as well.
Some countries around the world have hibiscus as their national flower-Malaysia,South Korea and Haiti.
Hibiscus grows wild in Australia too.
Hibiscus is used in beverages and food.From hot and cold hibiscus tea to dried leaves as a delicacy,or used as a vegetable.
For gourmet lovers,there are various products on the market which offers:
-Wild hibiscus flower syrup
-Wild hibiscus flowers in rose syrup
-Wild hibiscus pyramid salt flakes
-Hibiscus flower tea
Hibiscus flowers getting more and more attention to health benefits and growing understanding in scientific research.
Apparently they have loads of anthocyanin antioxidants.
