Is that Kudzu vine? They tend to take back structures and cars into the forest.

ย  ยท ย 6 years agoย

I think it is. It's choking some areas it has taken over.

ย  ยท ย 6 years agoย

Yeah, sure does look like Kudzu. Awesome photo by the way.

ย  ยท ย 6 years agoย

Thank you very much.

Thank you heelsandmuffins.

awesome photo , that place is definitely abandoned

ย  ยท ย 6 years agoย

Thank you. This place was abandoned since I was little. I don't know what this place was going to be. It's a good location for something. The foundation is still in great shape. If I could afford it I would buy it and put a garden down there or something. It would make a good park area.

what a great idea , very creative x

I enjoy seeing nature take back it's space. It sometimes makes a beautiful mix.

ย  ยท ย 6 years agoย

It is nice, isn't it?

ย  ยท ย 6 years agoย

Yes it is !

ย  ยท ย 6 years agoย

Nature always restores everything, it would be necessary for people to learn from her.

ย  ยท ย 6 years agoย

This is a Kudzu vine. Also known as the green scourge. It devours everything as it is an invasive plant from Japan. It will grow one foot a day. That's not a lie. One foot per day. These plants can devour whole houses in a matter of weeks if not left in check. The good thing about this vine is that it's all edible. Goats love them. You can make jelly out of the flowers. The vines can also be made into a basket.

ย  ยท ย 6 years agoย

Interestingly, I did not know that there is such a vine!

ย  ยท ย 6 years agoย

Oh yes. A fascinating plant. It's almost impossible to kill.

Wow! Neat capture. That vine is really taking over.

ย  ยท ย 6 years agoย

It is. LOL, you better pray that vine doesn't adapt to colder climates. That vine would suffocate everything up there.

ย  ยท ย 6 years agoย

Haha Cosmic. Our cold winter would kill anything. Seriously that vine looks very much like the elephant plant vines we have at the edge of the lawn. They are invasive and have to be keep under control.

ย  ยท ย 6 years agoย

I never heard of elephant plant vines.

ย  ยท ย 6 years agoย

They look nice and have little white flowers later in summer. Here is photo after the green leaves started to turn after being hit by frost the other night.

ย  ยท ย 6 years agoย

That is a pretty plant. They must be tough to live up there.

ย  ยท ย 6 years agoย

Haha Cosmic. we r a tough lot up here. ๐Ÿ˜Š Seriously the three seasons are great. We have about 4 mos of winter where the temp dips and snow cometh.
I planted some tomatoes and peppers this spring as the red soil is conductive for growing a garden. My peppers are still producing and growing.

ย  ยท ย 6 years agoย

I don't like the winters. I live in a valley in the mountains.
Tomatoes grow here well. I like peppers.
Red soil? Is it clay soil?

ย  ยท ย 6 years agoย

ha! wow sir cosmiccrimes where was that at? The place looks like the outside of our house when we first got here and it had sat abandoned for eight years.

ย  ยท ย 6 years agoย

That was some kind of construction project in the middle of town. So you guys bought an abandoned house?

ย  ยท ย 6 years agoย

yes sir cosmiccrimes it was the only way that we got it was because of the damages to it, it had been water damaged from a water heater in the attic with busted pipes which ruined alot of the drywall so most of the walls had been gutted and no repairs had been made so it looked like a wreck!

And it WAS a wreck, we still haven't gotten it all repaired. But yeah nature had taken it over, the outside was totally covered in poison ivy, you couldn't see out of any of the windows, it was bad. completely full of scorpions. at least one snake! lol.
It took some work to get it livable. had to rent a bush hog to get the 8 ft tall grass, weeds and trees cut down all around the house. lol.

ย  ยท ย 6 years agoย

And I thought my house needs repairs lol. We don't have scorpions here.

ย  ยท ย 6 years agoย

ha! it IS a challenge that's for sure. what kind of repairs does your house need?

ย  ยท ย 6 years agoย

The house is structurally strong. The foundation is and walls are very strong. The bathroom upstairs needs to be redone and electrical work. The windows need to be updated. The porch needs some repairs. That the biggest thing.

ย  ยท ย 6 years agoย

well as long as it's structurally sound then the other stuff can be remodeled as you go along. Do you know how to do the repairs?

ย  ยท ย 6 years agoย

I have done some plumbing work. That's about it. I have been debating to sell the house so that I can buy a piece of property. so that way I don't own any more money to the evil banks. Simplify my life.
