Sikad

SIKAD is a form of transportation here in the Philippines. It is mostly popular in the province especially in the southern part of the country. It has a passenger capacity of 3-4 persons.

Every provinces in our country have a unique version of sikad. Sikad means padyak in tagalog due to fact that it has no motor and fuel by human energy! Nice pic@wandersells. I will show you our version after i take a picture of it. Hoping for your upvotes buddy!

Thanks for the info @nickjon 😊 I remembered we do have like that in our province but was never used as income generating transpo. Looking forward to showing me your version of sikad 😊

Yes... I will do that! Thanks@wandersells..

Lovely... and indeed colorful. We have Sikads in the city too... They are around barangay road and not on the main streets. It costs 5 pesos per peson. How much is it in your area @wandersells?

Hi @trydaily. We don't have this one in our province. It was taken during my trip in Leyte. It's so colorful that I had to take a picture of it. We didn't get to ride it because the places we went to were all walking distance. 😊

In Thailand, it is called Sam Law. It's not as extensively used as it was in the past. When there was just one bus stop in the village, the Sam Law drivers would make money by transporting passengers from the bus stop to their house or shop and vice-versa. Nowadays, there is some sort of public transportation within reach of everyone or they have a car/motorbike now, so sadly, it's a dying trait. I know some of them have diversified to offering rides around tourist hotspots, but they can charge a lot, which deters tourists.

Woah! As I have mentioned before, I have been to Thailand twice but never heard of Sam Law. Even when I was doing research for our trip. What we experienced was the Tuktuk. @travelling-two😊

comfortible ride

Kudos to the Sikad drivers!

I honor them for their hardwork. 😊

Amen to that!
