Are Emojis the Hieroglyphics of Our Time?

in comedy •  7 years ago  (edited)

I wonder if future humans will enter old collapsed buildings and see emojis lining the walls. What if they see this line-up and have to interpret it? Ate donuts, fries and a whole cake. I pooped, had to close my eyes because it was kinda gross and call the police because an innocent family could be in jeopardy.

People are having whole conversations with just emojis.

Kevin Hart has his own Emojis

Are emojis part of the degradation of society? Are we seeing language take a L right in front of us? I know, having been around many younger teenagers that soft skills are most certainly taking a hit.

Kids are having a hard time interacting on a personal level. They don't know how to ask about the well being of a friend or family member, they don't know how to answer questions in an interview. They don't really know how to function in society.

Of course, I'm not talking about all kids, but I do believe we are producing a subset of society that is finding it more and more difficult to communicate.

We may have come full circle if we start carving emojis into walls.

I think you are right @iamron - we are creating a generation who have no communication skills and all because computers, phones and tablets have taken over our society. Kids rather "chat" on the phone (with emojis a lof times) than have a conversation around the dinner table.

I know I've noticed it with the kids that I'm around on a daily basis. It's a bit scary, but who knows maybe I'm just old and it's evolution. lol

Yes! It seems like we are using it the same way we did before alphabets. Though I think it is increasing our ability to communicate over text rather than decreasing.

I think that's a very valid point. Thanks for the comment and up vote.

This made me laugh, thanks.

Thanks for reading, Beth!
