New Roast Battle Format - Chronicles Of A Comic 007

People love roasts... People like rap battles... I'm going to combine the two and make a new bar experience for my local open mic.

When running an open mic, it is important to keep things fresh and if you don't have a steady flow of different comics, then you better have a change in presentation. Hence the Roast Battles.

I have to give the new people something that makes them write. Open mics, people tell the same jokes trying to work them out and the audience can get real bored with that quickly. So it is tricky coming up with ideas. I've done battles, contests, city vs city battles and a comedy showcase. This is a new to everyone in my town because it require the comics to write new material for the roast battle.

Here is my plan. I'm laying it out for you here first. Let me know your thoughts.

8 comics compete in a single elimination tournament. Much like the NCAA basketball tournament if it started at the elite 8. I am going to announce the brackets ahead of time so comics know who to write for. 

In the first round, each comic will tell four jokes each going one at a time and back and forth. The audience will pick a winner at the end using our "applause-o-meter". 

Only telling four jokes each will make the best material rise to the top quicker and will take less time. We should be able to have the entire 8 person battle done in less than an hour. That's seven battles, judging and introductions. 

I have $100 for the prize money and giving the winner $75 and the runner-up $25.

This should be fun. These other comics better come to write, because unlike most shows, I'm participating in this tournament and my friend DJ Tony B is hosting. I'm in it to win it. 

The show is May 31st and I'll record it and share after the show.
