#ComeyDay was the trending hashtag of the Testifying yesterday and it didnt take long for Lordy, I hope there are tapes

It's hard not to laugh at all of this. Sometimes the political atmosphere and especially this congressional investigation, feels like a high school drama, with everyone blackmailing, and who filmed who doing what. Well Thursday was no let down. In response to the Senate's question about Trumps taping of the conversation at a late night dinner, Comey popped off "Lordy, I hope there are tapes" trying to prove his side of the conversation about dropping the Flynn investigation. Well it didnt take long for the internetsphere to take this quote and run with it. #Comeyday tweets came flying thru with great memes and multiple requests for t-shirts of the popular quotes of the day. And there were no shortage of either.. If you type Lordy I Hope There Are Tapes FBI Director T-Shirt, there are thousands of t-shirts like these ones that litter Amazon within hours of twitter blowing it up.

Or even Comey's somewhat puzzling quote that was set up by the following quotes between Former Director Comey and Sen. Angus King.

“You said [Trump] said, ‘I hope you will hold back on that.’ But when a president of the United States in the Oval Office says something like ‘I hope’ or ‘I suggest’ or ‘would you,’ do you take that as a directive?”

Comey replied: “Yes. Yes, it rings in my ear as kind of, ‘Will no one rid me of this meddlesome priest?’ ”

King said: “I was just going to quote that in 1170 [of] Dec. 29 Henry II said, ‘Who will rid me of this meddlesome priest?’ And then the next day he was killed. Thomas A Becket. That’s exactly the same situation. We’re thinking along the same lines.”

The reference between Comey and King goes back to an outburst from King Henry II about the Archbishop of Canterbury.

This situation, albeit some view as a comedy, will eventually come to a head as the dualing narratives oppose each other on several occasions. Maybe these testimonies will bring to light what actually happened between Comey and Trump. In the meantime, grab the popcorn and enjoy the show.
