Good morning fellow nerds. Just wanted to do a quick shout out to those of us doing the pilgrimage to San Diego this week for Comic-Con! With every hour that passes, I get more and more excited. I have to admit, I’m struggling to keep my fan girl heart from exploding.
I was packing this morning and the thought crossed my mind that there might be new friends on steemit that either don’t know what a Comic-Con is or that they have never been to one. Here’s the short answer; “Comic-Con’s” in the most general sense are yearly events in different locals that bring multi-genre, comic book and entertainment fans together. It’s a fun mixture of cosplay, talent meet and greets, informative panels, vendors, game playing and so much more. Truly they are a sight to behold and enjoy.
I know there are die-hard Comic-Con goers that will say the only real CC is the San Diego Comic-Con that is happening over the next four days (Thurs-Sun). Okay, I’ll give you that, you’re right. SDCC was created by an amazing group of guys in 1970 and has been going strong since then and all others pale in comparison (deep breath). I will say that there are local conventions that are really gathering steam (ha, a play on words) in many other cities and states including the Big Apple that are worth checking out.
Enough about history, let’s move on.

It’s no little feat what is being accomplished by SDCC, it’s bringing companies, artists, vendors and talent together in one place. Keep in mind though; none of this could happen without the fan, we really are the epicenter of Comic-Con.

As for me? I’m taking on the challenge of a lifetime. I’m facing SDCC 2017 with a sleep deprived, cosplaying (Sera from Dragon Age: Inquisition) 14 year old and my older sister who really has no idea what is in store for us this weekend. Pray for us. I’ll post photos.
