As before, new corps were founded in the universe, this time it was Atrocitus who found out how it was possible to burn the red light of hate to power his corps on Ysmault, a planet where he was sentenced to prison by the guardians, the founders of the green lantern corps, so now you see where this story is going.
The Red Lantern corps was made of people who suffered or hated the other corps and wanted revenge. The first thing they did was abducting Sinestro while attacking both sinestro and green lantern corps, but before they tortured sinestro, Hal Jordan accompanied by one Sinestro corps member and two blue lantern corps member, managed to rescue Sinestro.
Atrocitus then swore revenge against the blue lanterns, and this would play it's part in the war of light later on.
