Growing up, Daredevil and The Hulk were my favorite Marvel characters. Even though that was many years ago, I still try to keep up with the new storylines concerning both of these heroes. That is what I am doing with Daredevil #618 (or #6 if you like the reboot # instead). In this storyline, put together masterfully by the team of Chip Zdarsky (writer), Lalit Kumar Sharma (penciler), Jay Leisten (inker) and Java Tartaglia (colorist), Daredevil is wanted for murder. Therefore, Matt Murdock is trying to lay low. This blind vigilante (lol) has been a hero, dead and now, wanted for murder. This issue has the perfect title of "No Devils, Only God Part 1."

Detective Cole North has transferred from Chicago to rid the streets of crime in Hell's Kitchen (good luck with that!). Captain Higgins has been giving North a lot of shit for not having any updates on the Daredevil case. North appears to be sandwiched in between the crooked cops and The Owl's gang, who are collecting protection money from the local business owners. The Owl is Leland Owlsley, who used to be a very prominent financier and financial investor. Troubles that included tax evasion and crooked business deals led to Owlsley being sought after by the IRS. Somehow, a life of crime was the answer to all of his problems.

We also saw that The Kingpin is somehow involved. Known as The Kingpin, Wilson Fisk was the city's Mayor at one point in time. Matt Murdock ended up taking his place in the political world for a brief period in what could only be described as a long story. Fisk also has crossed the paths of Spider-Man and the Punisher, in what has become a very long history as a Marvel villain.

Stan Lee was also involved in the creation of Daredevil, along with Bill Everett. We were reintroduced to the fact that Murdock loves books. In the case of this issue, it was Dickens' "Bleak House." My venture back into a Daredevil story certainly did not disappoint. I am happy that Marvel is keeping this eclectic character alive!
