Week 3 of my Infinity War Preparation – 2018 MCU Re-Watch
Over several viewings I've grown to really love Thor's first solo film. As well as performing a crucial role in bringing full-on Fantasy into the MCU I think it really captures the comic book feel. The costume and production design, when coupled with the perfect casting, bring this aesthetic to life.
The plot is quite similar to 'Iron Man 2' with a sprinkling of 'The First Avenger' but it is still its own film and succeeds in no small part due to the Thor/Loki/Odin triangle.
An excellent Shakespearean family drama / fish-out-of-water comedy!
(Potential Spoilers for Captain America: The First Avenger below)
To Infinity: Last seen being picked off the sea bed by Howard Stark in the 1940's we learn that the Space Stone is indeed still in the hands of S.H.I.E.L.D, and they plan to run tests on it...
Post-Credit Scene: With another Nick Fury cameo this provides a nice call-back to Captain America: The First Avenger as well as setting up events for 'The Avengers'.
Next Up: The Incredible Hulk
