The first image of the remake of 'Hellboy' is filtered, and fans have gone crazy
David Harbor (Stranger Things) takes over from Ron Perlman to give life to the demonic character
@HellboyMovie"Oh, shit," we can read the Twitter post that introduced David Harbor as Hellboy. The actor from Stranger Things , whose characterization fits the original (the comic character shares the same name), has been greeted with unanimous fanfare.
After two excellent adaptations signed by Guillermo del Toro, the Hellboy saga has passed into the hands of Neil Jordan , director of In Company of Wolves . In addition to Harbor, complete the cast of Ian McShane, Milla Jovovich, Sasha Lane and Penelope Mitchell. Ed Skrein, although initially chosen to play Ben Daimio, was immersed in a controversy due to the whitewasing that they had after their casting selection -Daimio is Asian.
Hellboy is an original creation of Mike Mignola. The comic, published by independent Dark Horse, figures the misadventures of a demon bred among humans who has just become a paranormal investigator.
Although elitist to say - it was also said of Jack Nicholson's Joker or Mickey Rourke's Marv in Sin City -Ron Perlman's Hellboy was perfect; there was something about him that went beyond a proper physique-though, boy, you could project it into Mignola's demon even without makeup. The presence of which Perlman was guarantor even before we saw any image of his characterization is not, by far, that of an actor like David Harbor. Seeing this first image released by the production company, it costs to abstract: you are seeing Harbor made up as Hellboy, not that Hellboy in his own right that he was Ron Perlman.
Maybe David Harbor, under the orders of a director as powerful as Jordan, ends up being a great Hellboy ; But, as the Smiths said, you just have not earned it yet, baby.
