DC Ones: Blue Beetle

Welcome to the OneShots once again!

I'm going to share on of my favorite DC characters!
Blue Beetle/ Jaime Reyes of Prime Earth!

Blue Beetle is the legacy name of several super-heroes with different abilities. Dan Garrett is the original version, an archaeologist who discovers and uses the Blue Beetle Scarab to fight crime.

His successor was Ted Kord, taking up his mentor's mantle using martial arts and gadgetry when he couldn't unlock the scarab's power, eventually becoming a member of Justice League International,Living Assault Weapons and Super Buddies.

Jaime Reyes is the current Beetle, a teenager who uses the scarab to construct an exo-skeleton and joins the Teen Titans.

THE SCARAB

The Blue Beetle gets his power from A Scarab. Scarabs were genetically engineered weapons made by the Reach to be obedient to them in their conquests for worlds

The typical plan was to leave a Scarab and its database on an inhabited world; when that planet reached certain technological milestones, the Scarab would activate and bond to one of the native inhabitants. The Scarab would overwrite the host's personality with the Reach's programming, creating an infiltrator in the Reach's service, armed with the Scarab's vast range of lethal weapons. Millennia ago, the Reach secreted one of the Scarabs on Earth, awaiting the day when it would awaken and summon its masters.

In Jaime's case,

The scarab was the subject of a fight between Tia Amparo and the Brotherhood of Evil. Jaime and Paco just happened by, and the Scarab attached itself to Jaime, transforming him into the Blue Beetle.

The scarab is pretty much like a high tech/magical being that when activated creates an exoskeleton on its host but what makes blue beetle interesting is that He does not have complete control over the scarab because the Scarab was originally made to conquer the world where it was sent to so every now and then, the Titans, or the Justice League eventually have to deal with the scarab.

The Scarab has displayed the following abilities since its bond to Jaime Reyes. It can opt to use its powers of its own accord, though it typically defers to Jaime. However, if Jaime doesn't want the Scarab to use a power, he can override it. Should Jaime fall prey to a body-controlling power, the Scarab will take control of the armor.

DC comics is under going through the rebirth process meaning they're trying to bring back older versions of our favorite superheroes, Blue beetle hasn't appeared recently but I'm sure he's going to eventually. I mean, how could he not? He's pretty awesome.
