Captain Marvel Movie Comic Prelude

Comic books that prelude to movies is not exactly a rare thing. Now is seems that Captain Marvel will also have a prelude comic. Staring Nick Fury and Maria Hill. That is a bit disappointing. I wanted an intro to her movie character, which will probably be very different from her comic book persona. But, as usually the events of such comics are really connected to the movies and allows you to have previous information and better context, it sounds like it will be worth checking the comic out when it comes out on November 14.
What do you think about a comic that is connected to the movies instead of the comic itself?

It's a difficult balance I think. I prefer movies or even tv shows that really dig into the history of the books and find the better stories to bring to the screen. If the movies get too big, I think at times the Hollywood writers feel like they can do something better than what was originally written. Maybe this is a good way to hedge/prevent that type of problem?

I'd prefer everything to be true to the source, Marvel/Image/DC or otherwise, but that might not work in today's entertainment industry.

It's two mediums and I like them both. I just prefer them separate. No need for a comic book that refers to the movie. Movies are very different from the source material for both Marvel and DC.

Agreed! I'm still confused on the whole Captain Marvel DC vs Marvel thing, but hey, sounds like a good post down the road for fans of both media.

Do you have any current comic books you'd recommend to check out? I'm really just getting back into the media after a few years after finding Dark Knights Metal, but liking everything I've come across recently. thanks for the feedback!

The Captain Marvel thing is really complicated, I don't want to write about it because I am not 100% sure, but from what I understand, Marvel doesn't own the rights to the Marvel name and niether do DC, so it's a legal complicated thing. Basically, DC can't put Marvel in titles but can use the name and Marvel have to always have a character named Marvel.
I am just starting to read comics so I read mainly old comics. All the Carol Danver comics. I also started reading the new Ms. Marvel which I really like, but I got stuck in Civil War I because that entire concept is too ridiculous for me to handle.

I read a lot books and leave less room for comic books. I should try some DC for veriation but I never get to it.
