Uncanny X-Men Vol 1 #168: "Professor Xavier Is a Jerk!"

This issue picks up a while after the last. However, Kitty Pryde is still super angry that Professor Charles Xavier took her out of the X-Men and put her with the trainee, the New Mutants. Illyana finds her outside and tells her that she is acting like a child. In the end they both run to catch a bus to dance class unaware that they are being watched and hunted by an alien predator.

Wolverine decides to take a vacation, looks like bad timing. He sees Nightcrawler on his way out. They have a discussion in which in the end they agree that it was a bad decision to take Kitty out of the X-Men as she has already proven her worth.

In the danger room Lilandra and Xavier are practicing his walking. He cannot walk. The pain that he feels is not real anymore, but he cannot overcome it. They love each other, but it is a long distance relationship and it will stay that way. They both have duties and Lilandra wants to leave with the Starjammers and try and dethrone her crazy sister Deathbird who has usurped her. She wants Xavier to come with her. But they know that it will not happen. They accept that for now they cannot stay together.

Kitty can't even focus on dancing in her dancing class. She's too mad. The X-Men are her family and she has been torn away from them.

Storm steps outside. It is snowing, but she doesn't feel the cold. She is happy to be back on Earth. She opens her mind to restore her physical and mental link with Mother World. But that link is denied her as a storm is unleashed on her and it passes as soon as it comes. But it affects her, she is now cold. She fears this change and wonder where it came from.

Scott goes to visit an old love of his, Lee. He tells her what happened over the last few months and that terrifies her. She tells him that in the end he will have to choose, her or the X-Men, but for now they can be happy together. That makes no sense, but ok.

Nightcrawler decides to surprise a love of his, Amanda Sefton. She's happily surprised. He covered her entire apartment with candles. How romantic of him.

Kitty tries everything to persuade Xavier, but he is sticking to his decision from some reason. Peter and Illyana come to visit to cheer her up. But she's too busy. Being around in space means she's got a lot of school catching up to do. Plus she's a genius so more is expected from her. She decides to make some cider and uses the computer to scan the house to see who else might join her. The computer detects an anomaly and Kitty decides to investigate. While wearing what she calls X-Babies uniform.

She sees torn electricity cables and tells this telepathically to Xavier. He doesn't read another mind with his thoughts so Kitty decides to investigate some more. We find that the alien hunter is the dragon that lead Kitty to safety on the home world of the Brood. Kitty was sad when she thought that he had died along with the planet, but now she's happy to see him.

Her happiness is short lived as Sidrian Hunters appear. They also appeared in Uncanny X-Men Vol 1 #154 and destroyed the mansion when they tried to kill Corsair, Scott's father. The Hunter's beam stops Kitty from using her powers, but Wolverine taught her how to fight. So fight she does. Her dragon also fights and burns them. These are baby Hunters who are sensitive to heat. It still doesn't go to well for Kitty and at the last second Colossus shows up to save her with his metal skin being impenetrable to their beams. The dragon takes care of the nest itself. He was hungry after all.

Now that Kitty has proven herself. Again. Xavier allows her to join the X-Men again. On probation, but it still counts.

Scott, Alex and Corsair reach Alska to meet Corsair's parents. A special person has been sent to collect them.

That person is Madelyne Pryor. Yes, that Madelyne Pryor. Who apparently looks exactly like Jean Grey.

What a way to end an issue.
