What a great interaction and example of community building right the comments @jasonbu! We've had that happen, too - as a result of politely explaining the offense, we've gotten several responses of remorse. But good on you for taking that even one step further! While I'm new and my upvotes aren't worth dust, I have found that it does seem to be community building to first try to engage and see if one gets a human reply.

I do love @commentwealth and especially the noob guide to commenting and upvoting. This is also helpful even for the more spamish replies that can be made to help your ranking. ;)

Keep to those principles and you will do fine. I've actually found that commenting and engaging has been very successfully for me, personally. @commentwealth is doing stuff that most just sit idly by and don't do anything. They are though. Keep going!

Thanks for the encouragement. I'll keep posting and trying to add value when I can. Thanks for this article. It confirms how I've felt @commentwealth is a good neighbor in coaching us little ones and helping when and where they can add well.

Thanks for this post @jasonbu. I wasn't aware of the @commentwealth initiative and really am impressed by what they are doing. I'm going to try and do a bit more of this type of response to spammers in an effort to improve the Steemit arena.

Exactly my thoughts when I read your post. I just attempted my first contest last week...it didn't really get any response. I felt the advice you gave was really good advice and I wish I had seen it before running mine :)
