The Pronouns

in communication •  6 years ago  (edited)
Hello friends, today I want you to speak about pronouns. Traditional grammar defines the pronoun as a kind of word whose function is to substitute the noun. However, this definition is valid only for third-person pronouns, but not for first and second person pronouns, in which they assume the role of the person speaking in the speech.

Therefore, the meaning of pronouns is occasional and, although they function as a noun, they have, in contrast to this, some differential characteristics.

Classification

There are two fundamental types of pronouns

1.- The diécticos pronouns refer to elements of the context: they indicate to the people who take part in the communication. They do not substitute any noun and can even be omitted.

2.- The anaphoric pronouns are those that substitute a noun that has already appeared in a speech and that is called antecedent.

Note

According to their characteristics and functions, pronouns are classified as personal, demonstrative, possessive, interrogative and indefinite. As you will see, in a next post, each of these groups participates in the view classification, that is, the deixis and the anaphora.
