SteemCityNiigata Meet-Up

You know that feeling you get when you have something you’re really excited about, or have something you love doing, but don’t have anyone to share it with? Well, that’s basically how I’ve felt about Steemit for the past sixteen months.

Steemit has been this big, somewhat secret part of my life that I have only been able to share with one other person in the community I live. I’ve tried talking to quite a few people about this platform, but more often than not, I’ve been met with doubt, confusion, and disbelief. If you’re reading this, I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. For some reason, Steemit just isn’t attractive to everyone. Not yet, anyway.

Lately, though, this has begun to change. In the past few months, a number of people in the city I live have signed up for Steemit and have begun contributing to the various conversations that can be found here. Not only that, they are excited about the new paradigm Steemit seems to be a precursor of and they are interested in jumping down the rabbit hole of crypto-currency and blockchain projects. After all of this time, I feel like I can finally share my excitement with people around me. I feel like I can finally talk openly about what I have probably spent too much time doing these past sixteen months. And it’s very liberating.

This past Sunday, I went to my very first meet-up, a SteemCityNiigata meet-up.

We weren’t able to get much talking about Steemit or crypto done because we all have young children that were pulling us in different directions, but even still, it was nice to just be in the company of fellow Steemians, all of whom are interested in collaborating and working to build a Steem ecosystem in the city where we live. I’m looking forward to being able to share my experiences here on Steemit more deeply with people who are physically near me and to having more meet-ups in the future.

If you haven’t read about our small, but growing community, please stop by the @steemcityniigata blog and get to know us. We’ll be keeping you informed about all that we are up to and the successes we achieve and the challenges we face as we attempt to build a functioning Steem economy in Niigata, Japan.

Well, like I said. It took over a year to get to this point. It sure feels good to be here, though.

I'm sure your day will come.

haha have some thing and dont like to share that is strange.

I'm not sure I understand.

Wow! Great get together between friends. I would really be happy if I was also with you friends. You people are great my friend @kafkanarchy and other also with you. Good luck friends for your great efforts.

Thanks! You'll have to start your own get together group.

Thanks @boxcarblue for sharing your happy moments with friends of first meetup of @steemcityniigata....Together ,happy to see Our lovely friend @kafkanarchy was also attended that meet-up.... Hope for a great journey...

Thanks @mamu77. I appreciate it.

I know how exciting it can be! When visiting Barcelona after SteemFest I knew I would meet another Steemian there and all of a sudden a small meet happen there, there were 5 or 6 of us!! Awesome feeling :)

This place becomes such a big part of what you do and think about, it's really great to have that in common with some one. You went to Steemfest? I wish I could've gone. Sounds like it was a great time.

Yes, I went to SteemFest and I was really impressed how many Portuguese people I found there. It's like our second family...that's what I felt being part of that group. We all had something very special in common, and that's comfy !!

I'm very jealous:). That's great to hear!

Let's see where the third SteemFest will be. I wish it could be in Europe again, but have a hunch it can be somewhere in Asia...let's see!

Hope I can make it again, and so do you:)

I'd be happy if it made it out my way. That would be nice.

Totally. Glad we also have some Steemians in Taipei now... ^^

So your community is growing too. That's good to hear. How is your plan shaping up for the next phase of your life?

It is the coolest thing to have these steemit communities popping up in more personal ways.

In the short time I've been here, I've attended several and have just planned my first one for next month.

What a time to be involved with steemit. And congrats on 16 months. I guess in time, we'll both be considered O.G.'s. lol

Yeah, it won't take much to reach OG status here. I kind of wish someone would make a badge for that. I'd put it on my posts from time to time.

You're lucky to have so many people in your area on Steemit. It's a fun thing to be able to share.
