I started writing when I was thirteen or thereabouts. Then I would write love poems to girls in the neighbourhood. I remember writing a love poem to Titi, a beautiful damsel in my junior class.
Unfortunately, my elder sister found one of the letters I wrote to Titi between the pages of my textbook. She taunted me for several weeks and today we still laugh about it.
As I grew older, I did not relent on my writing efforts. I have penned a number of short stories and published a few articles on national dailies.
I Found Facebook and Steemit
There was even a time when, for the love of likes and cheers, I wrote actively on Facebook. However, it soon dawn on me that likes were not money and that there was no way I could monetize my contents on Facebook.
So, I started searching for alternatives. Then one day a good friend introduced me to Steemit - a decentralized social media and blogging platform where writers can be rewarded for their quality works.
As you would expect, I signed up on Steemit and earned some decent money for my contents. But there was one fundamental problem with Steemit - writings vanish into the wind only few hours after publication. This means that one's post can only earn good upvotes in the first few hours after which it will be forever lost.
I found Whaleshares and @Scribbleguild
While dealing with this dilemma, another good friend @momogrow compelled me to sign up for Whaleshares, which is a more sophisticated version of Steemit. Unlike Steemit, Whaleshares has hundreds of altruistic communities that seek to reward the efforts of content creators.
And this was how I found @scribbleguild which has the witty @nikflossus at its top hierarchy. @scribbleguild is a community of writers presently on Whaleshares that massively support the literary works of members.

My Journey With Scribbleguild
So far, three of my entries have been rewarded by the scribbleguild community. And on each occasion, the rewards were worth about 250 WLS which is an equivalent of $12.
Although the upvotes may appear relatively small, the joy of having my works endorsed by a community of reputable writers has kept my creative fires fresh and alive. And it is my belief that many more awards will come my way as long as I continue to write good posts.
