One Block - Six Textures

Walking the route I walked a number of times for the 'Wednesday Walk' weekly challenge what caught my eye was, textures.

A couple of the photos I made into black and whites because the textures looked more interesting that way.

There were lots of choices but I stuck to textures specifically rather than branching out into patterns as well. 😊

Melted Tarmacky Stuff

This was in one of the entrance ways to the houses in First Ave which originally would have been covered with tiles.

Tactile Blister Paving

Found as we approach the road to warn the visually impaired and blind that a crossing is coming up.

Granite Curb Stone

The original granite setts that edge the pavement all the way down First Avenue

Flaking Paint On Stone

I think this is my favourite texture. The stonework ballustrade is most definitely in need of a repaint.

Very Thirsty Yellow Grass 😢

The state of Hove Lawns. as it was last July. It recovered completely though. 😢

Pebble Dash

A modernised balustrade. Pretty naff in my opinion although the texture on it's own is interesting.

These textures were all found within one block of my house, either under foot or on walls.

I wonder when I'm going to run out of ideas from just this single block. So far it has been ultra productive! 😁

These look good for use in 3d modeling.

I'll have to take your word for that @sketch.and.jam. I'm not sure what you mean exactly by "3d modeling". 😁

These textures are useful in game engines like unreal or 3d studio max or blender 3d. I do alot of architectural rendering for my job and use textures like this to show the building environments in a photorealistic manner.

Ah. I see. If they're any use to you you're welcome to copy them. 😁

The stonework balustrade is my favourite too Gillian. The dried lawn looks interesting too, like the sort of dried material I've used as background for flower arrangements. ♥︎♥︎⚖️♥︎♥︎

Yep. It really was dry last summer @allyinspirit. I didn't think it would come back but all it took was a shower on Sunday and it was green again. Amazing!

A very creative focus for your walk! Nicely done!

Thank you @melinda010100. 😊

Interesting textural photos. I like the blister paving, in particular. We have that here, but I didn't know it was for the blind. It's recessed a little, so I assumed it was to keep the "ramp" portion of the curb from being damaged or something.

Also... I use a text-to-speech add on (dyslexia + vision problem) and it is hillarious when reading this post. The voice has some "expresivity" programed in and, when it gets to the tildas, "~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~," it reads every one differently. It's like "Tilda tilda TILDA *tilDA TILda."

I wrote a post about the paving but it was a long time ago. Maybe I'll come across it and repost it. If I remember rightly there are 6 different types depending upon the type of crossing/road. I'd never realised that until I did the research for the article. it's pretty clever. 😁

Tilda, tilda, tilda. Sounds like a song! 😂

Interesting pictures. They are all aged by weather that helped create the patterns and textures. Awesome.

Glad you liked them @coltwlf.
