Yarn Bombed Lamp Post

Yarn Bombing in Brighton

This is a classic terraced street of small cottages in Brighton. What caught my eye though was the yarn bombing of the lamp posts. And it's not even festival time yet! 😁

I'm always partial to a bit of yarn bombing. I admire the patience of the knitters/crocheters who do this. All that time and effort only to sacrifice their art to the great outdoors. Still if it's a street you often walk along I suppose you'd still get to enjoy it though.

This one's not too huge an effort but I've seen photographs of whole buses that have been yarn bombed.

Mind you I think the big ones are usually community efforts so it's probably a lot of fun socially!

These photos of this community effort were taken on the East Coast of England in 2014 which was the last time the World Cup was on. All the pier railings were yarn bombed with different football teams and their supporters.

A winning effort. Don't you think? 😁

Yarn bombing. I'm trying to think of the equivalent here. Can't think of a thing. I guess ya'll got an exclusive on this one. :)

That lamp post makes me think of socks for giants, or maybe leg warmers. It does look fun, though, just a lot of work to crochet or knit all of that. :)

I know @glenalbrethsen. Some of them are massive. They must take weeks to make! 😊

I think the most yarnbombing I've seen was in New Zealand a few years back. Not seen much in the UK.

I don't think it's that common @steevc. Fun when you see it though! 😁

These are great. About 5-6 years ago I saw something like that in a shopping centre in Arnhem (Holland) but this looks way better.

They're really fun when you come across them aren't they @wakeupkitty? These are the first I've seen locally for quite a while now.

It was weird at first but I do like it

😁

So inventive. I have never seen anything like that here in the US. We often see street art. Started out as grafitti but these days you can find some amazing artists painting murals on buildings and bridges. Thanks for sharing!

I bet there is yarn bombing in the US @lrich. Maybe it's called knitting graffiti or something as mentioned by @shanibeer. 😁
thanks for visiting!

There's lots of knitting graffiti about and groups that do it, often women, often for political purposes. I love seeing it. I'm adding #needleworkmonday so members in that community pick up your post.

Thanks @shanibeer. I love seeing it too! 😁

Outside the wool shop 😊

I love so much yarn bombing! It's a nice way to add colors in the city and also a way to say "something" ! I'm a knitter and crocheter and some years ago me and others made something similar in my city placing crocheted flowers in different corner of the city ^_^

What a lovely thing to do @silviabenefort. I hope people appreciated your crocheted flowers. 😍

What peculiar handcrafts, I've never seen such activities before, how fancy!

Thanks for sharing this views Gillian :)

I really like them @drakernoise. Good fun! 😊

I love a good yarn bombing!! These were fantastic! Thanks for sharing them!

Yes. They're fun aren't they @fiberartists. I wish I came across them more often. 😊
